“We were a little careless in 2015” Tinubu on National Assembly leadership

Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has confessed that the Party was a bit careless in the handling of the National Assembly leadership issue.

He said this while addressing journalists in Lagos on Friday, Tinubu said the party’s choice will be respected.

According to NAN, the APC leader warned against what the APC suffered in 2015 when some of its lawmakers connived with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which was the minority, and elected those against the party’s choice as principal officers.

Tinubu said the party will not tolerate what happened in 2015, while adding that party discipline is key

He said: “We were a little careless in 2015. We created the opportunity for serpent to get into our party and that did not allow Nigeria to make the desired progress.

“You have seen the result of it and we are not going to allow that to happen again. We are going to respect our party and we are going to apply the whip.

“It is either you stay with us or you follow us or you leave. You have the freedom to choose but the freedom does not give you as a minority to go and collaborate and protrude our mandate given to you to another party who was our opposition and who is still our opposition.

“We would not take that this time, no matter who you think you are. That is how it is built. Why do you want to deviate from what has been structured? We look at our reward system equally, zone by zone.”

“Lagos is not Kwara” Tinubu on the “O te ge” movement (Video)

Ahead of Oyo Gubernatorial Elections: Alao-Akala reportedly rejoins APC after meeting Tinubu

Adebayo Alao-Akala, former governor of Oyo state, has reportedly returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC) after a brief meeting with national leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu.

As a fall out of the party’s governorship primaries in Oyo state the former governor was said to have dumped APC in October 2018 after, Vanguard reports.

Legit.ng gathers that Alao-Akala’s wife, Oluwakemi Alao-Akala, his son, Olamiju, and the director general of his campaign, Wale Ohu, accompanied him to Tinubu’s residence on Thursday, February 28.

He said: “It is true. Both of us have been meeting and we will continue to meet. I will call you in 24 hours to let you know the state of things.”

A source close to Tinubu said: “Tinubu and Alao-Akala met on Tuesday. Tinubu asked Alao-Akala, who has many supporters in Ogbomoso, to collapse his structure into that of Adelabu. We know that if Alao-Akala was in our camp, there was no way Atiku would have had such a good outing in Oyo State, especially Ogbomoso.

“The PDP governorship candidate, Seyi Makinde, is popular and he is also an Ibadan guy like Adelabu, which means that they will both split the votes in Ibadan. The APC will need to forge an alliance with elements in Ogbomoso to get an advantage.

“We knew that the people were not too happy with the governor as far back as June 2018 when the PDP candidate, Adebo Ogundoyin, won Ibarapa-East Constituency by-election which was held to fill the vacant position created by the death of former speaker of the House of Assembly, Michael Adeyemo. Alao-Akala had made some demands but Ajimobi did not play the politics right. Also, Ajimobi’s decision to convert some chiefs to full monarchs was unpopular among many people.”

Following the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in last Saturday’s presidential elections, and the defeat of the incumbent Governor of Oyo State in his bid for for the Senate, it aws becoming clear that the state might go the way of the PDP in the coming Gubernatorial Lections of March 9th 2019.
