Sanwo-Olu Pays Debt For Man Who Attempted To Jump To Lagoon

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been reportedly to have paid the N500,000 debt incurred by a man, Abiodun Adeyinka, who attempted to jump into the lagoon on the Third Mainland Bridge during Eid celebration.

Speaking on the development, the state Police Public Relations Officer , Bala Elkana said the governor was moved about the circumstances surrounding the man’s action to commit suicide and agreed to pay the debt he owed a micro finance bank to boost his business.

It was gathered that Abiodun had approached a microfinance bank for N390 , 000 to boost his business but could not repay the loan and the accrued interest which is over N500, 000, because the venture turned out to be unsuccessful.

Troubled by his inability to repay the loan , the 45 – year- old left his place of residence in the Ikotun area of the state and headed for the Third Mainland Bridge , where he attempted to jump into the lagoon.

It was learnt that policemen attached to the Bariga Division , who had been watching Abiodun closely , quickly prevented him from plunging into the lagoon.

Abiodun was said to hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and a Master ’ s degree in Business Administration and married with two children.

He is currently attending medical and counselling sessions after been rescued by the police.

Ondo2020: Akeredolu Consults Tinubu and Sanwo- For Victory

Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu , has paid a courtesy visit to the the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress , Asiwaju Bola Tinubu , and the Governor of Lagos State , Babajide Sanwo- Olu , to make consultations over the October 10 governorship election.

Akeredolu who disclosed this via his Twitter account said that he also presented his running mate in the election, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to the national leader .

He also said that he was in company with an APC governorship aspirant , Olusegun Abraham , who later stepped down for him .

On July 21 , the governor had been declared the winner of the governorship primary of the ruling APC in the state after polling 2 , 458 votes to beat his rivals in the indirect primary .

The governor added that the he visited APC leader , Tinubu , in Lagos to introduce his running mate.

Sanwo-Olu Reveals Age Bracket Who Are Ban From Worship Centres As Lagos Reopens Religious Activities

Lagos state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said those below 15 years of age and above 65 years old should not be allowed into places of worship because they are within those seen to be extremely vulnerable to the pandemic.

The governor stated this will reeling out the guidelines for reopening of religious centers and some businesses in the state.

He said the reopening of churches, mosques and the hospitality business will take effect from June 19.

The governor added that worship centres will, however, only be allowed to conduct services on Sundays for Christians and Fridays for Muslims.
Midweek services and vigils will remain suspended.

He further stressed that hurches and mosques are not expected to operate beyond 40 per cent of their membership while those with large congregation where the members exceed 500, will be permitted to hold more than one service.

Sanwo-Olu also urged all religious houses to adhere strictly to safety measures like fumigating and keeping the premises clean, and making sure that worshipers wear face mask and use of sanitizer.

He added that the Lagos State Safety Commission will register religious centres before opening and inspect their activities to check level of compliance.

He concluded that the state government had the discretion to stop or restrict worship where there is no compliance.

Resume Lagos-Abuja flights – Sanwo-Olu begs FG

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has commenced moves to get the Presidential Task Force(PTF) on COVID-19 to allow flights from Lagos to Abuja to resume considering the growing impact of the closure of the airports on the state’s economy.

According to the governor, the industries most “significantly” affected by the lockdown include the aviation industry as well as the entertainment, hospitality and transportation industries.

Recall the that the Federal Government had on March 23 shut all international airports in the country. The shutdown was later extended to the closure to all airports in the country, banning all local and international flights.

Governor Sanwo-Olu made this statement during a webinar hosted by FSDH Merchant Bank on Friday. The webinar, titled, ‘A global pandemic: local realities and peculiarities – a view from the frontlines’, was anchored by the Chairman, FSDH Holding Company, Mr Hakeem Belo-Osagie, and the bank’s Managing Director, Mrs Hamda Ambah.

Covid-19 Patient Gives Birth In Lagos

A pregnant COVID-19 patient reportedly delivered a baby boy on Saturday through caesarean section at the Gbagada Isolation Centre, Lagos State.

This was gathered from the state Governor’s, Babajide Sanwo-Olu Twitter handle, who broke the news with joy.

The governor twitted that; ‘I bring you great news from our isolation facilities. Today, a pregnant COVID-19 positive patient was delivered of a baby boy through the caesarian section at the Gbagada Isolation Centre. Both mother and baby are doing well,’

He as well said; ‘Today’s achievement is a pointer that our strategies in Lagos State are working and yielding the desired results. It is also a sign of victory and motivation for us as we push ahead in the battle against the pandemic coronavirus.

‘Also, 67 fully recovered COVID-19 Lagos patients, 22 females and 45 males including 3 foreign nationals – 2 Indians and a Chinese – were discharged to join the society.

‘The patients, 24 from the Mainland Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba, 22 from Onikan, 11 from Agidingbi, 2 from Lekki and 8 from Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Isolation Centres, were discharged having tested negative to COVID-19 in two consecutive readings.’
Governor Sanwo-Olu enjoined Lagosians to support the government in its drive to rid the state of COVID-19 by complying all directives and safety protocols.

‘As our front line health workers record successes in the battle against COVID-19, we urge citizens to adhere strictly to our public advisories and directives as this is the only way we can break the chain of transmission of the infection and hoist the flag of victory at the end of it all.

‘As we look forward to more great news in the coming days, I urge you all to take responsibility and play your part for a #COVID19FreeLagos #ForAGreaterLagos,’ he stated
