North-east: How my deputy saved my life from an ambush -Buratai

Chief of Army Staff (CoAS), Lt. General Tukur Buratai, has on Monday, given an account of the pivotal role that his deputy Lt. General Lamidi Adeosun, played in saving his life from an ambush during one of his visits to the North-East.

Lt. General Lamidi Adeosun is the current Chief of Training and Operations in the Nigerian Army.

Buratai narrated this story during his visit to Kuta, Osun state, for the commissioning ceremony of a bridge in Ede constructed by the Nigeria Army Engineering Construct Regiment and named after him.

The CoAS, said few weeks after his appointment to the position of Chief of Army Staff, he met with Adeosun, an indigene of Asamu in Osun State, who was already in the process of improving processes in the Nigerian Army.

He said, “When I had the first ambush, he was with me in the vehicle, by my side. (It happened on) the 18th of September, 2015, and I can see the courage he exhibited.

“And he was able to mobilise the troop to counter the bandits, the criminals, the terrorists out of the way. So, his elevation is not new to me.

He also commended the engineering team of the Nigerian Army for the role they are playing in the process of infrastructure development for the country.
