Bauchi floods: 16 die, 2,000 houses destroyed – SEMA Official

Following the flooding that started from the beginning of 2020 in Bauchi State, about than 16 persons have been killed, over 2,000 houses destroyed and over 1,117 farmlands were also washed away by the floods..

The flooding is reported to have occurred in several local government areas of the state. The Permanent Secretary of SEMA, Habu Ningi, said the incidents affected at least 11 communities in different LGAs.

The Bauchi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) confirmed this in an interview with The PUNCH on Friday.

As a way of ensuring that such losses are not recorded again in the state, residents have been asked to avoid building along waterways and dumping refuse into drainages.
