The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors(NARD) plan to commence a nationwide strike from September 7.

The association made this known in a statement signed by the President, Dr Aliyu Sokomba; Secretary, Dr Bilqis Mohammad, and the Publicity Secretary, Dr Egbogu Stanley. The planned strike is coming weeks after a 21-Day warning strike was started commence on August 17 as a way of getting the Federal Government of Nigeria to make good its promise.

recall that in June, NARD had embarked on an indefinite strike which was only called off after on June 22 following negotiations by the Federal Government and other stakeholders in the health sector.

What the doctors are demanding from the Federal Government is to make good its promise of implementing the residency funding, COVID-19 allowance, hazard allowance as well as the outstanding salary shortfall of 2014, 2015, and 2016.
