Police Block entrance to the Edo State House of Assembly complex
The operatives of the Nigerian Police have taken over of the Edo State House of Assembly complex.
The two major political parties in the state have continued to trade blames on who is responsible for the blockade at the complex of the Edo State House of Assembly. This allegation is coming after series of unresolved political crises in the Edo State House of Assembly between members loyal to the current Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, and those loyal to the immediate past Governor, Mr. Adams Oshiomole.
Reacting to the developments at the Assembly complex in a statement issued earlier today (Thursday 6th August 2020), Chairman of the APC Media Campaign Council in Edo, John Mayaki, explained that as a political party, the APC does not control the police.
Mr. Mayaki has also accused the incumbent Governor of bridging constitutional provisions with his interference with the affairs of the State House of Assembly particularly its independence by denying opposition members-elect legitimate representation.
