Edo2020: ‘Obaseki Won’t Be Getting Our Support’ Family Says As They Backs Ize-Iyamu

Family of the incumbent Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has said that their kin won’t be getting their support ahead of the forthcoming election in the state and have pledged their support for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

Victor Obaseki, a cousin of Governor Godwin Obaseki, who was in company of other prominent family members said while speaking at the meeting, admitted that although Godwin Obaseki is a kin, he won’t be getting the support of the family.

He said Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, the executive governor, is their cousin, but however the Obasekis have their own way of doing things and that they have a different branch of faith and as such they are supporting Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

Victor also revealed that he had supported Ize-Iyamu before, and he would continue to support him and the Obasekis will do all their campaigns for him without let or hindrance, fully from the bottom of their hearts.

On his part, Ize-Iyamu expressed his delight at the support of the Obaseki family, stressing that this serves as a confirmation of the poor administration that Godwin Obaseki has given to Edo state in the past four years.

He also praised the Obaseki family for not allowing sentiments becloud their judgement in their support for who is right to lead Edo state for the next four years.

The endorsement of the APC candidate by the embattled Governor’s family on Saturday in a meeting completes a disappointing week for the PDP’s candidate which saw numerous aides, appointees, and other government officials resign their positions to back Ize-Iyamu.
