Covid-19 Update: NCDC Confirms 239 New Cases As Total Hits 4000 In Nigeria
11 deaths and 239 new cases have been recorded in Nigeria on May 9, according to a report by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), bringing the total cases to 4,151.
According to NCDC, 239 people tested positive out of 1,180 samples collected.
Nigeria has 23,835 samples tested in its ongoing campaign against the deadly COVID-19, which is far less than Ghana and South Africa that have conducted over 100,000 and close to 200,000 testings so far, with South Africa increasing its daily tests to more than 10,000 a day.
NCDC while announcing the new cases on its verified Twitter handle on Saturday night, stated that no new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.
Till date, 4151 cases have been confirmed, 3,300 cases are active, 745 cases have been discharged and 128 deaths have been recorded in 34 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
NCDC highlighted that the 239 new cases are reported from 15 states- Lagos(97),Bauchi(44), Kano(29), Katsina(19), Borno(17), FCT(7), Kwara(6), Oyo(5), Kaduna(3), Sokoto(3), Adamawa(2), Kebbi(2), Plateau (2), Ogun(2), Ekiti(1)
Cross River and Kogi states remain the only states that have not recorded COVID-19 cases in Nigeria.
While Lagos remains the epicentre of COVID-19 in Nigeria with 1,764 confirmed cases out of 4,151 across Nigeria.
