NNPC Boss absent at a major NNPC event

The group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Maikanti Baru, was absent as the corporation officially declared the Nigerian Pavilion at the 2019 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in the US, open.

Bello Rabiu, NNPC’s chief operating officer, upstream, represented the corporation’s group managing director (GMD) at the opening ceremony on Tuesday.

“I formally declare this 2019 OTC open. It is very important for me to show our appreciation to all the companies here present,” he said.

Recall that the NNPC had initially said Baru will be on ground “to Highlight Nigeria’s Deepwater Potentials at 50th Offshore Conference in Houston,” stating that the “focus will be on the different phases of deepwater developments, place of Nigeria in global deepwater operations and capacity growth in the local industry for deepwater operations”.
