Many Escape Death As Fuel Tanker Goes Up In Flames At Oghara

Scores of persons on Tuesday night escaped death at one of the tank farms in Oghara, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.

It was gathered that one of the tankers filled with fuel burst into flames as people scampered to safety while the inferno lasted.

Though detail of what led to the inferno could not be confirmed, an eye witness,who spoke to newsmen, said the truck had finished loading fuel and was exiting the premises when the driver apparently lost control.

A source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said: “When the driver lost control, there was a spark from the tanker bucket, which resulted to the fire that engulfed the tanker.
“It took the intervention of fire fighters from Pan-Ocean, Ovade to subdue the fire.”

One person, who was reported to have sustained burns from the incident, is said to be receiving attention at Delta State University Teaching Hospital, DELSUTH, Oghara.
