Ohanaeze support Sanwo-Olu for Saturday Polls, seeks six slots in the cabinet.

Following nearly two-weeks of near hostility between the Igbo community in Lagos and the All Progressive Congress(APC), the Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo has finally thrown it’s weight behind the APC candidate for Lagos Guber polls.

Specifically, Ohanaeze leaders promised to mobilise two million registered Igbo voters to vote for Sanwo-Olu arising from a town hall meeting they held on Sunday night, in Lagos. Sanwo-Olu was at the event with his running mate, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Vanguard Newspapers Nigeria reports..

The Group also expressed it’s displeasure at the incidents of attacks against the voting public in Igbo dominated areas of the state in the last election. The group then tasked Sanwo-Olu with the protection of Igbo voters in the coming elections as well as six appointment slots after the election.

President, Ohanaeze Lagos State, Chief Solomon Ogbonna, hinted that they have concluded plans to cast their votes for him but he must yield to their demands after the election.

Ogbonna said: “We are endorsing him because this is the man that will give us what we have been craving for in Lagos. This is the best that can happen to Ndigbo in Lagos, so come out and vote for him. Hold me responsible for this because I know him and I have seen what he can do.”

Responding to the development, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Mr. Jimmy Agbaje pointed that he was not bordered about any such endorsement but he would simply like people to be left to decide who they would want to vote for.
