Saraki: Is the 40 year political dynasty coming to an end?
Though results are yet to be announced, there have been jubilation across Local Government Area (LGA) offices of the All Progressive Congress(APC).
Unofficial results tricling in from various LGA collation centers indicate an early vitory for the ”O to ge” movement of Kwara State. ”O to ge”, is a Yoruba three word sentence, meaning “ Enough is enough “,today is a political slogan of the main opposition, All Progressives Congress (APC)in Kwara state.
The movement indeed started in 2017 after the local government election, which few members of the opposition party allegedly won but were reportedly denied. The new movement is inspired by a vexation against the nearly 40-year dominance of the Saraki family in the state. The APC has been the the platform for the realization of this vision with the defection of Sen. Bukola Saraki from the APC.
So far, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the results of Ilorin east and Asa local government areas.
In Ilorin east, Oloriegbe secured 30,014 votes ahead of Saraki who had 14,654 votes, while in Asa, the APC candidate polled 15,932 votes ahead of the senate president’s 11,252 votes.
In all, APC has 45,946 votes, with PDP trailing 25,906, leaving a margin of 20,040.
